The same water can be scenery upstream and survival downstream.

REFLECTION
The same river is a view in one place and a livelihood in another. Upstream it is what you photograph; downstream it is what you drink, irrigate with, and cannot do without, and decisions made where the water is scenery land on people where it is survival. The stakes are wildly unequal along a single length of water.
Before treating a shared resource casually, ask who is downstream of you. This is literal with water and applies broadly to noise, cost, workload, and risk. What is a minor preference at your position may be the whole situation at someone else’s, and the geography of that rarely announces itself.
What is decoration to you and necessity to someone else?
