A winning strategy can make a game less interesting without making the strategy less effective.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

A strategy can be entirely effective and still ruin the thing it wins. When one approach dominates, everyone converges on it, variety disappears, and the game becomes narrower without becoming any less winnable. Effectiveness and interest are separate properties, and optimising for one reliably erodes the other.

The same dynamic shows up in work, hobbies, and whole industries. When you find the approach that works, notice whether it is also flattening what you enjoyed. Sometimes the right response is to keep winning and accept the loss of texture, and sometimes it is to deliberately hold back some efficiency in exchange for keeping the activity worth doing.
