Make your life difficult to summarize with a bank statement.

A life that reduces cleanly to a financial figure has usually been optimized for a single dimension, which means everything else got compressed to make room. Being hard to summarize that way means there are other things in it that count, and that resist measurement.

List what would be missing from an account of your life that mentioned only your work and your money. If the list is short, that is the thing to build this year. Add one thing to it deliberately rather than hoping it happens.
