The question why me selects one outcome from a world in which somebody had to experience an outcome.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Asking why me presumes that being singled out needs explanation, when in a world of this size, some particular person was always going to be the one. That is not a comfort exactly, and it is not an accusation either; it just means the question may not have the kind of answer it is reaching for. Being chosen and being included in a large number can feel identical from inside.
If you are in the middle of something hard, you do not have to solve this. Nothing about your situation is a verdict on you or a debt you incurred. When the question comes, you might try setting it beside a different one, what would help today, and let that be the one you answer.
When did asking why it happened to you stop helping?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
