Advice sounds simpler when the adviser does not have to live with the decision.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Confidence is cheap when you are not the one who wakes up inside the outcome. From outside, a situation looks like a clean problem with a clean answer, because the adviser never has to hold the parts that do not fit: the history, the money, the people who will be hurt either way. That is not dishonesty. It is just the distance that makes advice easy to give and hard to use.

Keep listening to people who care about you, and add one question before acting: what would this cost me that they will never feel? When you are the one advising, say plainly which parts you cannot see.
