An impressive introduction does not replace a clear account of the actual work.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

A strong introduction buys attention, but it does not answer the question people came with. When the framing is polished and the substance stays vague, listeners either assume there is nothing underneath or wait politely for a part that never arrives. Credentials set an expectation that the account itself then has to meet. The introduction is a door, not a room.

Before your next presentation, write the plain version first: what was done, what happened, what you know and do not know. Build the opening afterwards and keep it short. If the plain version turns out thin, that tells you where the week should go.
