A child needs room to dislike an activity without being accused of wasting your investment.
GRATITUDE
GRATITUDE
When money and time have gone into lessons, a child’s dislike arrives looking like a bill. That is unfair to them, since they never chose the investment, and the money is already spent whether they carry on or not. Making them hold the guilt turns a preference into a moral failure and teaches them to hide what they feel. Trying something and finding it is not for you is a perfectly ordinary result.
Ask what exactly they dislike, since the answer is sometimes the teacher or the hour rather than the thing. Keep the question of stopping separate from the question of your money.
What have you paid for that someone now feels obliged to enjoy?
