A memorable sentence should still make sense outside the excitement of writing it.

Writing produces its own atmosphere, and inside it a line can feel electric because of everything you were holding in your head at that moment. The reader arrives with none of that. What was thrilling at midnight often turns out to be a phrase with good rhythm and no clear meaning attached.

Read your best sentences the next day, cold and out of order. Ask what each one actually says to someone who has not been inside your head. Keep the ones that survive and let the others go without mourning them.
