A garden rewards attention to the place you actually have.

Gardening goes wrong when it is done against the site: the plant that wants sun placed in a shaded corner, the soil argued with rather than worked, the picture from a book imposed on a small damp yard. Whatever grows easily where you are is telling you something useful. The work goes better once you begin with the conditions instead of the wish.
Spend a week noticing where the light falls and how long the wet patches stay wet. Plant what suits that. It applies well beyond gardens, though it is clearest there.
What would flourish in the conditions you already have?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
