Let your hands learn the tool before asking them to express the whole idea.

CREATIVITY
Ambition arrives before skill, which is why so many first attempts get abandoned. You can see the thing you want to make with complete clarity, and your hands can only produce a rough approximation, so the gap reads as evidence of no talent rather than of no practice yet. The tool has to become boring before it can become expressive.
Spend a few sessions on exercises with no meaning attached: scales, straight lines, the same joint cut ten times. Keep the ambitious piece for later. Fluency in the tool is what eventually lets an idea through unchanged.
What skill did you rush past on the way somewhere?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
