The plan that helps one person breathe more easily may be worth its small inconvenience to another.

Accommodation gets weighed as though the two costs were comparable. One person gains the ability to be there at all, and another walks a little further or eats an hour earlier than they would have chosen. Treating those as equal claims is how a group quietly decides whose presence is optional.
When arrangements are being made, ask what each person is actually giving up. If yours is an inconvenience and theirs is attendance, concede early and without needing anyone to notice that you did.
What small inconvenience would you accept to ease someone’s day?
