A child should not become the messenger for a conversation two adults are avoiding.

Passing a message through a child moves an adult difficulty onto someone with no power to settle it. They carry the tone as well as the words, they receive the reaction meant for someone else, and they learn that the two people they most depend on cannot speak to each other directly. That is not a small errand.
If something has to reach the other adult, send it yourself, however awkward that is. Keep the child’s account of their day for them alone.
What message have you sent through someone rather than saying directly?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
