Moving alone deserves help even when you are capable of lifting the boxes yourself.

Being able to do something alone is not the same as it being reasonable to. Lifting boxes is only the visible part of a move; the rest is a hundred decisions, the strange feeling of being between two places, and nobody to say that this is genuinely hard. Capability quietly becomes a reason people stop offering and a reason you stop asking.
If you are moving, ask for company rather than only for muscle, and be specific about the hour. If someone you know is moving alone, do not wait to be asked. Turn up, carry something, and stay for the first meal.
When did you refuse help you would have gladly offered?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
