Scenery does not create feeling, it only holds it. Arranging the right view, the right restaurant, the right lighting can improve a good evening and cannot manufacture one, and when it is asked to do the manufacturing the gap grows more obvious rather than less. The moment usually depends on who is there and what is unresolved between you.

If something feels flat, look at the conversation rather than the setting. Ask what is not being said, or simply give the occasion more ordinary time. Save the beautiful places for moments already going well, where the surroundings can add to something real.
