Do not let an easily measured benefit hide a difficult daily cost.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Some benefits announce themselves in numbers and some costs live in daily texture. Extra money, a shorter commute on paper, a better title are easy to state; the hour lost each morning, the noise, the person you now report to, the evenings that never quite settle are not. Comparison naturally favors what can be written down, which is not the same as what will be lived.
Before accepting a trade this week, describe an ordinary Wednesday under it, hour by hour. Ask whoever already lives that version what the worst part is. Then weigh the daily thing as heavily as the headline.
