A closed opportunity should be described honestly before it becomes a story about destiny.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Endings get retold until they seem inevitable. A role that did not come through, a place that closed, a plan that fell over gets smoothed into a story about it not being meant to happen, which is comforting and expensive: it hides what was actually learnable about the timing, the fit, the approach. Meaning applied early replaces information.

Write down what happened in plain terms while it is fresh, including the parts that were simply bad luck. Keep the account separate from any conclusions. You can decide later what it meant, and you will decide better with the details intact.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which rejection did you rewrite as something that was meant to be?
