Some visits require a version of you: tidying, cooking, choosing what to wear, being interesting for three hours. Other people can be seen without any of that, and their company therefore actually happens, because it does not have to be scheduled around your energy. Low preparation is not a lesser kind of friendship; it is what makes frequency possible.

Notice who you could see today without cleaning the kitchen, and see them more often. Be that person for someone else by arriving without expectations and refusing the fuss. Say out loud that the house does not need to be ready for you.
