The picture you keep privately can matter without proving anything to an audience.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
A great deal of looking has quietly become showing, until an image can feel unfinished unless somebody else has seen it. The photograph you keep for yourself does a different job: it holds a day, a face, a light you want back. Its value does not depend on anyone agreeing that it was worth keeping.
Keep something this week that you have no intention of posting. Print one, or set one where only you pass it, and let the private version be the whole point rather than a draft of a public one.
What do you keep for yourself that no one needs to see?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
