Do not hide a recurring fault beneath a cleaner-looking surface.

REFLECTION
Covering something is faster than fixing it, and for a while the two are indistinguishable. The stain, the noise, the awkward step, the process everyone works around: made presentable, they stop generating complaints, which removes the pressure that might have led to a repair. The fault keeps working underneath, usually getting more expensive.
Pick one thing you have been tidying instead of mending and look at what is actually causing it. Either fix the cause now, or write down honestly that you have chosen to live with it so nobody is surprised later.
What problem have you covered up rather than actually fixed?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
