Let the person see the image before deciding it belongs in a public story.

LEADERSHIP
You see a picture as a record of an occasion; the person in it sees themselves, which is a completely different experience. A frame you find warm may catch them at an angle they dislike, in a week they are not proud of, or in a situation they have not told everyone about. The subject knows things about the photograph that the photographer cannot.
Show people the picture before it goes anywhere, and accept a no without asking for reasons. Where that is not possible, err toward keeping it private, since a good photograph is not worth a small betrayal.
What have you shared publicly that someone else appeared in?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
