You can have a good evening before the room is perfectly arranged.

Holding out until the space is ready is a comfortable way of postponing the thing the space was for. The shelves, the paint, the last box: there is always another item, and the standard rises as you approach it. Meanwhile the evenings that would have happened in the unfinished room simply do not happen.

Invite someone over before it is ready, or eat properly at the table you have not finished clearing. Let the room be used in its current state, and notice that nobody else was ever grading it.
