Every opportunity deserves more than asking whether you can; ask what accepting it prevents.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Capability is the least interesting question about an opportunity. You can probably do it, and that is exactly why the question is a trap. The real cost is displacement: what will not fit in your life once this does, which projects go quiet, which relationships get the leftover version of you.
Before accepting the next thing, write down what it will crowd out. Be specific rather than abstract, naming actual evenings and actual work. Then decide with the full price in view. Some opportunities are worth what they displace, and knowing that clearly is very different from finding out afterwards.
What would saying yes to your next offer cost you?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
