Read your request once as the person who must fit it into their day.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

A request always makes sense from inside the head that wrote it. From the other side it arrives among twenty other things, missing the context that made it obvious, sometimes missing the deadline or the reason entirely. Reading it once as the receiver shows you the work you were quietly handing over: the guessing, the chasing, the rearranging.

Before you send the next one, reread it pretending you have never thought about this before and your afternoon is already full. Add the missing when, the missing why, and the size of the job. Then send it.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

How would your last request read to the person receiving it?
