A useful system remembers the things you do not enjoy having to remember.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

The point of any system is to carry what you would rather not hold in your head. Bin day, the filter change, the renewal date, the thing you promised to send: none of it is hard, all of it is tiring to keep track of. A system that still depends on you remembering to check it has not actually taken anything off you.

Pick the reminder that nags at you most often and put it somewhere outside your head this week. A recurring alert, a note on the door, a standing order. Then let yourself stop rehearsing it.
