Sometimes enjoyment returns when you stop asking whether you are doing it well enough.

Assessment and enjoyment draw on the same attention, so running both at once starves one of them. The moment you begin marking your own performance while you play, cook, draw, or swim, part of you steps outside to watch, and the activity becomes an audition. Standards are not the enemy; the running commentary is. Much of what people call losing interest is really the fatigue of being permanently judged.
Take one thing you used to like and do it this week with the scoring switched off. No timing it, no photographing it, no comparing.
What did you love before you started grading yourself at it?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
