Retirement changes the schedule before it changes the habit of measuring a day by work.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

The calendar clears long before the internal scoring does. Days once graded by output are suddenly full of hours with nothing to weigh, and the old measure keeps running, quietly reporting that nothing was achieved. That mismatch is why the early months can feel unmoored even when the rest was wanted and earned.

If this is your season, allow a while for the measuring to loosen rather than filling the space to satisfy it. Notice what you are still marking yourself against. Let a few days be judged by whether they were good rather than by what they produced.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

How would you judge a good day without any work in it?
