The evening you keep simple may be the one you actually remember enjoying.

Elaborate plans tend to be enjoyed in retrospect, if at all, because so much of the night is spent managing them. The booking, the timing, and the effort invested raise the standard the evening has to meet, and any gap between plan and experience registers as disappointment. Simple evenings carry no such debt, so whatever good happens in them gets felt at the time.
Leave one evening this week deliberately plain. A fortnight later, notice which nights you can still describe, and let that guide how much you build into the next one.
Which simple evening do you remember better than an elaborate one?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
