A person’s good intention becomes more useful when it learns the details of another person’s day.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Generosity aimed at a general idea of somebody usually misses. The meal that does not fit their diet, the visit at their hardest hour, the gift that needs storage they do not have all come from real warmth and land as one more thing to manage politely. Intention is the fuel and the details are the steering.

Before your next kind gesture, spend two minutes on the specifics of that person’s week. Ask what time is easiest, what they cannot eat, what they are short of, and let the answer change the plan rather than decorate it.
