An ending deserves a plan for the people who were depending on its continuation.
LEADERSHIP
LEADERSHIP
Closing something is not only a decision about yourself. A group, a service, a role, or a standing arrangement has people organized around it, and when it stops they are left with a gap they did not see coming and no time to build anything else. The ending may be entirely right and still leaves work to be done on other people’s behalf.
If you are winding something down, list who relied on it and what they will need. Notice, alternatives, a handover, or simply an early warning turns a rupture into a transition.
Who would be left without support if you stopped next month?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
