Courage does not remove fear; it removes fear’s authority.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Fear can be present and powerless. What changes with courage is not the volume of the feeling but its standing: it stops being the thing that decides and becomes one voice among several. People wait for fear to leave, and it does not leave, so they wait indefinitely.

A practical version is to let fear speak and then not vote. Hear the objection, acknowledge it is real, and proceed if your judgment still says to. Doing this a few times teaches your nervous system that the feeling does not have to be obeyed, which is a lesson it can only learn from experience.
