A clear beginning is worth more than a dramatic description of why you have not begun.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Explaining the delay can become the project. There is real satisfaction in an accurate account of the obstacles, the timing, the reasons any sensible person would also have waited, and the account gets more polished each time it is told. Meanwhile nothing has started. The explanation also makes starting harder, because beginning now would quietly contradict a story you have been telling well.

Do the first small piece before you next describe the situation to anybody. Fifteen minutes of the actual thing counts. Then you will have something to report that is not a reason.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which explanation for not starting have you rehearsed most often?
