A comfortable pace leaves enough attention to notice where you are.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Speed consumes attention. At a pace slightly beyond comfortable, everything available goes into the doing, and the surroundings become scenery you pass rather than a place you were. Afterwards you can describe the effort in detail and remember almost nothing else. The difference between an experience and a completed task is often just a small reduction in tempo.
Slow one recurring thing by a fraction this week: the walk, the commute, the meal, the way you move through the house. Do not add anything; simply take a little longer. Notice how much comes back when attention is spare.
Where does your speed keep you from noticing the walk itself?
