The person cleaning a shared area should not have to argue for everyone else’s basic care.

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

Whoever cleans a shared space ends up policing it, which is a different and much worse job. They have to raise the subject, absorb the awkwardness, and gradually become the person others avoid, all for something everyone agreed was basic. Standards held by one person are not shared standards. They are a burden with a tidy result attached.

Do your part of a shared space without being asked and without announcing it. Take a turn at the task nobody claims. If someone else has been quietly carrying it, say so out loud, and let the request come from the group rather than from them.
