You can be disappointed in your response without deciding it describes your whole character.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
One poor reaction is a moment, and it is tempting to promote it into a description of who you are. The promotion feels like honesty and costs you something, because a verdict about your character gives you nothing to work with. Snapping at someone tired, going quiet when you should have spoken, freezing when it mattered. Any of those can be true without settling the larger question about you.
Name what you actually did in one sentence, without the word always in it. Decide on a repair if one is available, and make it. Then let the incident be an incident rather than evidence against yourself.
Which small failure did you turn into a verdict about yourself?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
