A lighthouse’s usefulness does not depend on whether anyone finds it beautiful.

LEADERSHIP
Usefulness and admiration are independent of one another. A thing can be entirely unappreciated and entirely load-bearing, and no amount of indifference reduces what it is doing. Much work is like this, especially the kind that keeps other things running: nobody photographs it, nobody discusses it, and everything would stop within a week without it.
If what you do is not the sort that gets praised, the lack of praise is not a verdict on the value. Keep the standard where you set it. Then look for the unglamorous load-bearers near you and say something specific to one of them about what they hold up.
What part of your value survives without anyone admiring it?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
