The helper who learns the routine makes relief possible without a long explanation each time.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

The heaviest part of accepting help is often the briefing. Explaining the medication times, the way the door sticks, what upsets him, which mug, is work in itself, and doing it repeatedly can cost more than the rest the help provides. Someone who learns the routine and keeps it removes that toll entirely. They become a person you can hand things to rather than a person you have to manage.

If you are helping, learn one part properly and take it on permanently instead of offering to do whatever is needed. And if you are the one carrying it, letting somebody learn eventually gives you an hour back.
