A walking companion learns your pace more accurately than your description of it.

Descriptions of ourselves are approximate; behaviour is not. You can say you are a fast walker, an early riser or somebody who does not mind waiting, and thirty minutes side by side will give a more accurate account than the sentence did. People learn us by doing things with us. That is why shared activity builds knowledge conversation cannot reach.
If you want to know somebody better, do something alongside them rather than only talking. Walk, cook, drive, work on one task. Pay attention to the pace they keep rather than the one they claim.
Who knows your real rhythm better than your self-description does?
