The smartest answer sometimes begins with “I don’t know yet.”

Saying you do not know yet is often the most accurate statement available, and it is treated as a weakness mainly because certainty is rewarded socially. The person willing to say it keeps the question open, which means they can still find the answer. The confident guess forecloses that.

Practise the phrase deliberately this week, particularly in situations where you would normally produce something plausible. Add what you would need in order to know. It costs a little standing in the moment and it makes everything you do say worth considerably more.
