The quiet moment before the ceremony belongs to a different story from the public entrance.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Big days contain a private version that nobody photographs. The minutes beforehand, in a side room with one or two people, hold the nerves, the practical fussing, and whatever gets said quietly, and that is often where the event actually happens for the person living it. The public part is real too, and it is written for an audience. Both are true, and only one of them is remembered by everybody else.
On any significant day, protect a few minutes before it starts and choose who is in them. Afterwards, write down what was said there, since no photograph will hold it.
