A shared journey becomes fairer when the planning work is counted alongside the driving.
GRATITUDE
GRATITUDE
Driving is visible and planning is not, so the person at the wheel gets the credit for getting everyone there. Somebody booked the stops, checked the route, worked out what to bring and when to leave, and that labour happened days earlier where nobody could see it. Because it leaves no trace in the car, it tends to fall off the account of who did what. Over time that quietly decides which contributions count as real.
When you thank someone for a trip, thank the arranging as specifically as the driving. If you have been doing the invisible half, saying so plainly works better than hoping it gets noticed.
Who does the planning in your household that nobody counts?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
