Some people fear silence because it lets unfinished thoughts finish speaking.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Noise keeps unfinished thoughts unfinished. As long as there is something to listen to, something to read, something to do, the half-formed thing you have been avoiding never gets the space to complete itself. Silence removes the interruption, and whatever was waiting arrives.
If silence makes you uneasy, that unease is worth approaching gently rather than avoiding. Try fifteen minutes with nothing on, and expect something to surface. You do not have to act on it. Letting the thought finish is often enough to reduce the pressure it has been quietly exerting.
Which thought do you keep interrupting before it can finish?
