Expectation can make abundance feel like a missed delivery.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Satisfaction is measured against what you were expecting, not against what arrived. Twelve of something feels like plenty until you were told to expect fifteen, and then the same twelve register as a shortfall and produce genuine disappointment. Nothing about the quantity changed; the number in your head did. This is why raised expectations can make a good outcome feel like a loss, and why the fix is rarely more.

When something disappoints you, check what you were comparing it against and where that figure came from. Half the time it was a guess you made yourself and then quietly promoted into a promise.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

When did plenty disappoint you because you expected something else?
