A ticket records where you are allowed to go, not what you hope to find.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

A ticket is a permission, and permissions are narrow by design. It confirms a seat, a date, an entrance, and says nothing about the reason you are going, which may be a reconciliation, a job you are frightened of, or a last visit. The document handles the logistics; you are carrying the rest of it separately. That gap between what is printed and what is at stake is present in most official paper.

When you set out on something loaded, name what you are actually hoping for before you go. Knowing what would make the journey worth it is different from knowing what is on the ticket.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What are you hoping to find where you have permission to go?
