A pastime becomes richer when the community shares methods as readily as finished results.

A community that only displays finished work teaches nobody anything. The photograph of the completed piece is pleasant and closed; the account of how it was done, including the two failures before it, is what lets somebody else begin. Method is harder to share because it exposes the mess, and it is the part with all the value in it. Groups that hold back technique end up admiring each other and improving slowly.

When you show something you made, include one thing that went wrong and what you did about it. Asking others how rather than what is the same move from the other direction.
