A list can make a crowded mind’s separate demands visible enough to negotiate.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Held in the head, tasks are not separate; they arrive as one large pressure with no edges. Written down, the same material becomes eleven items, three of which take five minutes and two of which are not yours at all. Negotiation is possible once the demands stop being a single weight and turn into countable things. The relief comes from the separating rather than from any progress.
When your mind feels crowded, write everything down without sorting or judging first. Then mark what is genuinely due this week and what has simply been loud. Cross off one item that belongs to somebody else.
Would writing every demand down let you finally weigh them?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
