The truth offered selectively can serve a lie without containing a false sentence.

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

Every sentence can be true and the whole thing still be a deception. Choosing which facts to hand over, in what order, and which to leave for the other person to discover is a way of steering someone toward a conclusion you would not defend openly. It is popular precisely because it survives cross-examination. Whether it counts as honesty depends on what you were trying to produce in the listener’s mind, not on whether each line would pass inspection.

Before your next difficult account, ask what the other person would want to know that you were planning to omit. Saying that part first is the test.
