The crossing taken for granted began as a problem somebody had to solve carefully.

Anything you cross without thinking was once a genuine difficulty. Somebody worked out the depth, the load, the ground on either side, and where the money would come from, and most of that thought now lies buried under a surface you pass over in ten seconds. Ease at the end of a chain of decisions looks like the absence of a problem. It is really the mark of a problem solved well enough to become boring.

Pick one thing that works reliably in your life and ask who made it work. If that person is still reachable, tell them it is holding up.
