An actor’s pause can give an old sentence a new place to land.

The same words can do entirely different work depending on where the silence falls. A pause tells the listener what to hold, what is coming, and what has just cost the speaker something, and none of that is in the text. Very familiar lines are frequently reopened by nothing more than a change in timing.
In a conversation that matters this week, leave a gap before the important sentence and after it. It will feel far longer to you than to the person listening, and it gives them somewhere to put what you said.
Where would a pause let your words actually reach someone?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
