A careful explanation lets someone understand without first becoming impressed.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Explanations can be built to inform or built to impress, and the two pull in opposite directions. When the words are chosen for their difficulty, the listener has to admire before they can follow, which puts a toll on the road to understanding. A careful explanation removes that toll: it starts where the other person is and does not require them to be dazzled on the way.

Take something you know well and explain it to someone this week without any of the specialist vocabulary. If they follow easily, you understood it better than the vocabulary suggested.
