The word borrowed from another culture still has a history beyond its new usefulness.

No word arrives empty because you happen to find it convenient. Borrowed terms come with a place, a set of speakers and often a history of how the contact happened, and using one casually can flatten all of that into a piece of vocabulary that seems to have been waiting for you. Nothing here forbids borrowing; languages have always done it. Knowing where a word came from simply changes how you hold it.
When you next reach for a term from elsewhere, spend two minutes finding out who uses it at home and what it means to them. Curiosity costs little and shows.
